Interests 

My research comprises the role of English and multilingualism in education and work settings, as well as minority language policy, specifically in Wales. I investigate elite and precarious multilingualism in contexts of migration and a globalised knowledge economy, mainly using Critical Discourse Studies and Ethnography as my major research approaches.

Projects

  • My current project focuses on the discourses, ideologies and practices of elite multilingualism in the context of adult language education, native speakerism and standard language ideology (ongoing)
     

  • I acted as Case Study Lead in the SpraBÜ project "Newly arrived migrant children and their transition from preparatory to mainstream classes in a German public school", funded by the DFG (German Research Foundation) (2020-2023)

  • I am also a Collaborator in the international project "Linguistic Equality in Political Transitions" in Canada, Wales and Catalonia, funded by the SSHRC (Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (2019-2024)
     

  • I was Principal Investigator in a discourse-ethnographic project on "Adult multilingualism in an Austrian language education company", funded by Vienna University of Economics and Business (2015)
